Nikita Koškin (1956, Moskva) jedan je od najpoznatijih kompozitora za klasičnu gitaru. Njegova muzika je izvođena od strane najpoznatijih muzičara kao što su Džon Vilijams, Vladimir Mikulka, Elena Papandreu, Fabio Zanon, braća Asad, kao i nove generacije virtuoza, poputGoranaKrivokapića, ŽudikaelaPeroja, GabrijelaBjanka.Muzički stil prati tradiciju ruske muzike, od Čajkovskog i Musorgskog do Prokofjeva, Šostakoviča i Stravinskog. Kombinuje elemente romantizma i neoklasicizma, zajedno sa jakim ekspresionizmom i avangardnim efektima.
Koškin je počeo da svira gitaru 1970. godine u klasi Vladimira Kapkaeva. Tri godine kasnije je upisao Muzički koledž Oktobarske revolucije (sada Alfred Šnitke koledž) gde je 1977. diplomirao. Na Ruskoj muzičkoj akademiji diplomirao je 1985. Od 1983. Koškin je glavni predavač na Muzičkom koledžu Oktobarske revolucije.
Svetska premijera Koškinove muzike odigrala se u Londonu 1978. Izvođač je bio Vladimir Mikulka, sa kompozicijom „Pad ptica“. Dve godine kasnije, Mikulka je u Parizu premijerno izveo Koškinovu svitu „Kneževe igračke“ koja je doživela veliki uspeh i time Koškina uvrstila među najvažnije moderne kompozitore za gitaru. 1989. prvi put je nastupao u Evropi i svirao isključivo svoje kompozicije za gitaru. 1997.godine u gradu Meskuite (SAD, Teksas) Koškin je dobio specijalnu nagradu zajedno sa ključevima grada. U Forth Vorth 25. oktobar je proglašen za Dan Nikite Koškina.
Koškin je pobednik međunarodnog konkursa za najbolju kompoziciju za gitaru (1987, Estergome, Mađarska). Od tog trenutka njegova muzika je objavljena od strane mnogih izdavača širom sveta, u Nemačkoj, Kanadi, Grčkoj, Finskoj, SAD, Japanu, kao i u Rusiji.
U martu 2000 Nikita Koškin izveo solo resital u Oslu, u Nobelovom Institutu, u sali gde se dodeljuje Nobelova nagrada za mir. 1996. godine u gradu Negotinu, Koškin je dobio zlatnu medalju i nagradu „Stevan Mokranjac“ za doprinos muzici pravoslavnih zemalja, kao i specijalnu diplomu Grada Novog Sada.
Impresivni deo Koškinovog kreativnog rada posvećen je početnicima. Koškin je objavio nekoliko ciklusa pedagoškog repertoara. Svaki komad ima didaktički tehnički zadatak koji je skriven ispod muzičke slike.
2001. godine Koškin je odlučio da završi koncertnu karijeru i da se koncentriše na komponovanje i nastavu, što je rezultiralo veoma plodonosnom poslednjom decenijom zajedno sa brojnim premijerama novih radova, pisanih ne samo za solo gitaru, već i za ansamble.
Danas Koškin predaje gitaru na Državnoj Akademiji u Moskvi. Među Koškinovim studentima je nekoliko poznatih izvođača i pobednika međunarodnih takmičenja, kao što su Dimitri Ilarionov, Andreja Parfinovič, Natalija Rodionova, Vladislav Nilov, itd

Nikita Koshkin (1956, Moscow) is one of the most famous and highly celebrated composers working with the classical guitar. Music of Nikita Koshkin was performed by the most known and respected musicians as John Williams, Vladimir Mikulka, Elena Papandreou, Fabio Zanon, Assad Brothers, and also by the new generation of the young virtuosos, such as Goran Krivokapic, Judicael Perroy, Gabriel Bianco. The musical style is following the traditions of Russian music, from Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky to Prokofiev, Schostakovich and Stravinsky. Apart from this it combines the elements of romanticism and neoclassicism together with a strong expression and avant-garde effects.
Koshkin started playing guitar 1970 at the music school №28 in the class of the teacher Vladimir Kapkaev. In 1973 graduated from the school and entered the October Revolution College of music (now Alfred Schnittke College). 1977 – graduated from the college. 1980 – the guitar class was opened in the Russian Academy of Music. Koshkin is the first guitar student of the class. Graduated 1985. From 1983 – Koshkin is the main guitar teacher of the October Revolution College of music.
The world premiere of Koshkin’s music took place in London, 1978. The first performer was Vladimir Mikulka with composition “The Fall of Birds” (Andante quasi passacaglia e Toccata). In Paris 1980 the first performance of the suite “Prince’s Toys” took place, performed again by Mikulka. That was the real great success, which put Koshkin’s name among the most important guitar composers of the century. In 1989 for the first time Koshkin appeared in Europe as a guitarist, playing the programs of only his own compositions for the guitar. In 1997 in the city of Mesquite (USA, Texas) Koshkin got the special award together with the symbolic keys from the city. In Forth Worth 25 of October was announced as Nikita Koshkin Day.
Koshkin is the winner of the international competition for the best guitar composition (1987, Estergome, Hungary). Since that moment his music was published by many publishers all over the world, in Germany, Canada, Greece, Finland, USA, Japan, as well as in Russia.
In March 2000 Nikita Koshkin performed a solo recital in Oslo, in the Nobel Institute in the hall where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded.
In 1996 in the city of Negotin (Serbia) Koshkin was awarded the golden medal and the Stevan Mokranjac Prize for the contribution to the music of the orthodox countries, as well as a special diploma in the city of Novi Sad.
Impressive part of Koshkin’s creative work is dedicated to the beginners. He published already several cycles of pedagogic repertoire. Each didactic piece has the technical task which is hidden under the musical image.
In 2001 Nikita Koshkin decided to finish his concert career and to concentrate more on composing for guitar and teaching. The result was very fruitful last decade packed with the numerous premieres of the new works, not only for solo guitar, but also ensembles.
Nowadays Koshkin is teaching guitar at The State Classical Academy in Moscow. Among Koshkin’s students there are several famous players and winners of the international guitar competitions, like Dimitri Illarionov, Andrei Parfinovich, Natalia Rodionova, Vladislav Nilov, etc.
