He is also the author and other pedagogical editions: etude collections, a Guitar Beginner, reviewing the guitar chords, and his television schools for the guitar that he recorded for TV Belgrade in the 70’s and 80’s were very significant.

At the time when Jovan Jovičić started performing, the guitar was underrated instrument in this region, and was considered not to have a place on the concert podium. Jovičić also developed extensive pedagogical activity – first organizing courses for guitarists and pedagogues and writing textbooks, and then initiating the introduction of guitar lessons into music schools and music academies. Therefore, he is extremely highly credited as the founder of guitar art, first of all in Serbia, but his performance has decisively influenced the development of guitar art in the entire former Yugoslavia.

Thanks to Dr. Jovan Jovičić, the classical guitar in Serbia and throughout the former Yugoslavia in the second half of the twentieth century, experienced remarkable progress and unprecedented bloom, and on the basis of Jovičić’s soloist, composing and pedagogical work, the great progress of our guitar art was achieved to such an extent that Belgrade and Novi Sad now days have become the guitar centers of the European renome.
