MEĐUNARODNO TAKMIČENJE „DR JOVAN JOVIČIĆ“ nastalo je 2007. godine iz želje ASOCIJACIJE GITARISTA VOJVODINE i njenih članova da se, kao integralni deo VOJVODINA GUITAR FESTA, obnovi Pokrajinsko takmičenje gitarista u Vojvodini. Nakon uspešno realizovanog premijernog festivala i odličnog odziva pedagoga i učesnika takmičenja, AGV donosi odluku da već od naredne godine festivalsko takmičenje ponese ime njenog počasnog predsednika i doajena klasične gitare na ovim prostorima, prof. dr Jovana Jovičića. Zbog značajnog interesovanja gitarista iz Srbije i regiona, takmičenje 2011. godine napokon prerasta u međunarodno i privlači na stotine novih takmičara iz muzičkih škola u Srbiji kao i gitariste iz celog regiona, postajući tako u jedno od najmasovnijih gitarskih takmičenja na ovim prostorima a i šire.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION „DR JOVAN JOVIČIĆ“ was created in 2007 from the idea of the GUITARISTS ASSOCIATION of VOJVODINA and its members to re-establish the Provincial Competition for Guitarists, as an integral part of VOJVODINA GUITAR FEST. After the amazingly successful premier and the excellent response of the teachers and participants of the competition, AGV decides that from the next year the festival competition will carry the name of its honorary president and doyen of the classical guitar in this region, prof. Dr. Jovan Jovičić. Because of the significant and ever rising interest of guitarists from the rest of Serbia and the region, the 2011 competition finally turned into international competition and attracted hundreds of new young classical guitarists from Serbia, as well as guitarists from all over the region, thus becoming one of the largest guitar competitions in this region and beyond.
